The Liberty Bell is Ringing, Will You Answer the Call?

This weekend I had the opportunity to spend some time with political rock stars from the local, state, and national level from all over the country.

One of those national rock stars was, US Congressman Thomas Massie.

Congressman Massie and I talked about the issues that are important to you like Educational Parental Rights and Common Core.

As we talked, I was excited and encouraged, at the common goals we share for education:

-Eliminating the US Department of Education

-Local control when it comes to schools and accountability

-That parents have the right to choose the educational opportunities that they feel is best for their children, including home schooling, public schools, and private schools.

But meeting political rock stars is not why I love my job.

It. Is. You.

Your letters, your e-mails, my time spent with you at events and meetings, your stories: that is what keeps me going.

Some of you have shared things with me that have broken my heart, and stirred up a righteous anger within me that allowed all of us, to work as a group to fight to right some wrongs. And, we won!

Some of you have shared how you have felt encouraged enough by this organization to embark on the homeschooling journey. And I hope you know that I am here for you, when you need encouragement along the long way.

Some of you have given so much, and I don’t mean a set dollar amount. Many of you have given beyond what you could –For some, a $10 donation may as well be $1,000, and you have given that $10 gladly, I cannot begin to tell you how much that means.

I truly am humbled that you trust our organization with your money, and support our vision for educational freedom in Wyoming.

I treasure the notes sent with your donations, they hang on the wall, as a reminder of why I do what I do. Your notes keep me going.

August is a few days away, school is starting soon, and there is a lull, but not really. Sports and school functions, Thanksgiving, Christmas, the New Year, the Super Bowl, and BAM! February 8th, the first day of the Wyoming Legislature’s 2016 Budget session will be here before we know it.

And right now, there are a few things I need you to do:

If you haven’t already, it is of the utmost important that you sign the petition for Parental Rights in Education.

I need you to share this article and/or the petition with your Wyoming family and friends, let them know how important it is that they sign that petition.

I need you to donate. We can only continue to be effective with your donations.

Maybe your household an afford a donation of $1,000 or more.

Maybe your household can afford a donation of $500 or more.

Maybe your household can afford a donation of $250 or more.

Maybe your household can afford a donation of $100 or more.

Maybe your household can afford a donation of $50 or more.

Maybe your household can afford a donation of $25 or more.

Maybe you can afford to give a donation of $10.

Every dime you donate matters! I do not take lightly the responsibility of making sure Wyoming Freedom in Education is a good steward with your money.

Your parental rights concerning the education of your children are being taken away. The Governor, and his appointed Attorney General are of the “opinion” that you do not have the right to opt your children out of standardized testing –if they are enrolled in a public school-.

If you think you have the right to opt your children out of standardized testing, because you are the parent: Sign the petition.

Homeschoolers, you need to fight for educational parental rights, because those are where our homeschooling freedom comes from. If educational parental rights are not strengthened, your freedom to homeschool could be threatened.

Public and Private school parents, you need to fight for educational parental rights, because you never know when circumstances can change. Will you be charged with educational neglect for taking a family vacation, or going hunting during the school year?

Will your children be prosecuted for truancy because they were sick and missed too many days of school, and only a doctor’s note -not a note from a parent or guardian- will be accepted for an excused absence?

And to all parents, your circumstances could change at any time.

Homeschoolers, you may have to one day enroll your children in public or private school.

Public school parents, you never know what circumstances may lead you to have to begin homeschooling, or send your children to private school.

And private school parents, you never know what could come up, a layoff, large unexpected expenses, school closures, that would put you in the position to have to choose between homeschooling and public school.

Parental Rights in Education affects every single parent. And we as parents of children in public, private, and home schools, need to fight together!

It is vital that the petition gets out to as many parents across Wyoming as we can. Can I count on you to do your part?

Share the petition with every parent you know in Wyoming. There are even social share buttons on the petition to make it easier to share.

I want you to fight by my side, as we fight for our rights as parents to do what is best for OUR children. Our children do not belong to the US Department of Education, they do not belong to state of Wyoming, they do not belong to the school districts, and they do not belong to the schools… They are OUR children.

It is our duty as parents to Fight. For. Them.

And to fight for our right to parent them as we see fit.

Good parents only want what is best for their children, and you are a good parent. I am asking you to join me in fighting for what is best for your children… and it starts with your parental rights. Sign and share the Parental Rights in Education petition today!
